As the Center for Intercultural Engagement (CIE) celebrates its 10th anniversary of fostering belonging and cross-cultural dialogue, we invite you to help shape Reimagining Collective Futures symposium on April 9, 2026, by nominating a keynote speaker.
This gathering will bring together Northeastern students, faculty, staff, scholars, and community members to explore urgent questions at the intersection of identity and belonging in an ever changing-world. Join us in cultivating thoughtful discourse, interdisciplinary frameworks, and actionable insights.
We’re looking for a speaker who:
- Address our community’s aspirations
- Has a record of impactful work, thought leadership, or lived experience
- Demonstrates a commitment to inclusivity
- Connects across differences through empathy and dialogue
- Sparks meaningful conversations and community learning
Northeastern students, faculty, and staff may nominate themselves, a community member, or an external speaker.

AY 2026 Mini Sponsorship Grants
Deadline: November 1, 2025
Award Amount: Up to $500
Funding Period: January 1 – March 31, 2026
The Center for Intercultural Engagement (CIE) invites Northeastern faculty, staff, and students to apply for funding to support academically grounded, collaborative activities to promote intercultural dialogue and scholarship that advances student experiences.
Priority will be given to:
- Academics/Scholarly Impact: Projects demonstrate clear ties to research, pedagogy, or creative inquiry (e.g., intercultural communication in STEM).
- Public Engagement: Activities with a public-facing component (e.g. lecture, exhibition, conferences, symposia).
- Student Involvement: Proposals that actively engage students in design/execution (e.g., co-organizers).
Eligibility & Compliance
- Proposals must be led by the submitting faculty, staff, student, or recognized student group.
- One proposal per applicant per year.
- Repeat or duplicate proposals will not be considered.
- Applicants must be an active Northeastern student, recognized student group, full-time faculty member (Assistant, Associate, or full Professor), or full-time staff member.
- Proposals must comply with all university policies.
- Applicants are solely responsible for planning, executing, and managing project risks.
- Final decisions about eligibility will be determined during the review process.
How to Apply
Submit all required materials by November 1, 2025.
- Project Abstract (350 words): justify intercultural impact, student role, and public reach
- Detailed Budget: itemized costs, other funding sources, and well-justified budget aligned with funding guidelines
Post-Award Requirements:
- 1-2 high-resolution photos.
- Final Report (April 15, 2026): summarize the project, outcomes, and student contributions.
Navigating Identities Between Worlds Series
We all exist at the crossroads of diverse cultures, beliefs, and heritages. This collaborative series between the CIE and our Cultural and Spiritual Life (CSL) community explores the journey of belonging, honors our roots, celebrates our communities, and fosters understanding across our shared campus.
