The Center for Intercultural Engagement (CIE) builds socially conscious communities that foster belonging and intercultural learning for all Northeastern students.


Our Work

Through student-centered programs, workshops, and dialogue, CIE creates spaces where students develop the awareness, knowledge, and skills to engage diverse perspectives, while finding ongoing support and community.

The Cultural Life Education (CLE) Team serves as a vital student resource for identity-based care, intercultural training, holistic wellness, and student support across the Global Network.

The EMPOWER Fellows Program fosters dialogue, collaboration, and celebration across diverse student communities through transformative fellowship experiences.

First-Gen, Undocumented, and Low-Income (FUNL) Network

The First-Gen, Undocumented, and Low-Income (FUNL) Network expands cross-institutional community and resources to ensure that FUNL-identified students thrive at Northeastern.

The Building Research, Inclusion, & Dialogue for Global Engagement (BRIDGE) Collaborative amplifies intercultural knowledge of faculty, staff, students, and student organizations.

Our Goals

Through the Center’s efforts, students will learn to:

  • Engage in dialogue and exploration to further build upon their abilities to navigate our complex world with empathy and discernment.
  • Explore the depth of their intersectional selves while developing genuine curiosity and honoring the lived experiences of others.
  • Access resources and opportunities that allow them to translate their learning into creative expression within their disciplines and personal passions.
  • Identify resources and care to empower and support their individual agency.
